75Tripod. A Useful Tool For Photography
Tripods are a great tool for everyone who wants to go beyond just point and shoot in digital photography and is aiming to achieve the next level in digital photography. Using a tripod has many advantages which will result not only in a general higher quality of your digital photos but it will help you also during specific situations in which the use of a tripod is essential.
Specifically I will discuss that using a tripod results in sharper photos, greater flexibility, better self portraits and night photography. Tripods also help a lot when stitching multiple shots is your goal. After reading this article, you should be able to achieve a much higher quality of your digital photos.
Advantages Of Using A Tripod For Your Photos
Sharper photos are what we usually aim for and a tripod is the perfect means to do so. Usually modern digital cameras have gone a long way to guarantee a sharp picture by making a lot of automated corrections. However, the main problem is the very user himself. Be it a flippy hand after an exhausting walk, strong winds or an unstable stand, chances are that you may not be able to hold your camera exactly still resulting in pictures which are less sharp than what you aim for. A tripod avoids all of these possible sources for instability and guarantees that your valuable digital camera can really work to its optimum.
A tripod is of course an essential tool for making a self portrait or for group photos in which you want to be included as well. There are not always helpful strangers at hand who will be ready to shoot the camera for you. A tripod avoids all the usual hassles when making self portraits or photographing a group of people.
Using a tripod gives you much greater flexibility for choosing the settings of your digital camera and gives you more freedom to work with the many options your digital camera provides you. Specifically you are able to increase the shutter time to let more light into your lens without risking a diffuse or even blurry image. This is essential while photographing during the night or in low light environments in general. Using a tripod guarantees you the perfect picture for this particular awesome early sunrise at the beach or the romantic sunset in the mountains. Of course there are many more situations where you may want to increase the shutter time to capture a specific impression. Photographing wild water is a common example where you have to increase the shutter time to get the impressive smooth effect of running water. Without using a tripod it is almost impossible to do so.
Furthermore a tripod is an essential tool for making multiple photos and stitching them. By slightly changing the direction of the camera for each different shot you can produce high quality panorama images even without a wide-angle lens avoiding all the sometimes unwanted side effects like fore-shortening produced by wide angle lenses. The use of a tripod guarantees that your horizontal axis will remain level. Without a tripod this is virtually impossible to achieve. The added benefit is that by using multiple images for your panorama photo the number of pixels multiplies as well resulting in a high quality image.

We purchased a new Nikon D300 and my husband wouldn't even consider taking it anywhere until he had a bag for it and a tripod. I bought both. I agree that no matter how steady you think you are, you aren't. A tripod helps all of that. Thanks for sharing!
